I had the great pleasure of hosting a pop-up at John Lewis in Southampton for a week in September 2021.
I had a fantastic experience and met so many lovely people – staff and customers. I have really enjoyed being able to talk to people about my passion and have had such a great response.
I was based on the ground floor next to the escalators which was a great spot – and I was also next to the BBQ displays so I carefully positioned my mannequin with my leather apron next to these and it quickly sold!

The best part by far was being able to engage with people in person. Leather is a very tactile material and so giving people the change to touch and feel my products and start a conversation about how they are made was great.
The hours were long as it’s just me at MoCo but I had lots of visits from friends who brought food and caffeine to keep me going! I also took some half finished sewing projects to complete while I was there which was definitely a good conversation starter and I finished this beautiful black bag while I was there (and sold it a day later!):

I made a short video reel of the making process – click here to have a look.
The staff at John Lewis were absolutely amazing from start to finish. I was the first pop-up trader that they’d had in-store so we all learnt as we went along. They provided me with all the fixtures I could possibly need and helped me to make the shop look fantastic. Then all I had to do was take in the fact that I was selling the products I made on my kitchen table in a branch of John Lewis!
A fantastic experience all round – and hopefully I’ll be back sometime to do it all again!
