Hello I'm Sally
Thanks for stopping by!
I have always loved creating and crafting and regularly have several projects on the go at home to do in my spare time, but when my husband bought me a one day leatherwork course as a birthday gift I was instantly hooked.
Aside from that course I am otherwise self taught from books and YouTube videos. Initially all my work was hand stitched using traditional stitching techniques purely because I couldn’t afford the cost of the industrial-type machine needed for heavy leather work. When I left my professional career in late 2019 I decided to take the plunge and make that purchase and MoCo was born.
Now I use a combination of machine and hand-stitching depending on the type of project I am working on. Most of my hair-on-hide products are machine stitched due to the nature of the leather (and that you can’t see where you’re stitching!) but many are combined with an element of hand-stitched work such as a strap or a patchwork.
I would describe my style as minimalist and I’m inspired by architecture and nature. I love how even simple designs are taken to another level with the natural markings of the leather I use.
In my work I do my best to make sustainable choices. One of the ways I try to minimise any negative impact on the environment is by using as much of the leather as possible to reduce waste. This has given rise to many of the products in my 100 Watt Fountain Light Power Supply collection.
I am based in Hampshire where the creative small business community is HUGE and support for independent business is fierce. We have a vibrant maker scene which I feel very lucky to be a part of
